Las Vegas, Nevada
South Point Hotel & Casino
Sixteen States and Japan Represented
During The 29th Annual Lettermen Society Convention
Las Vegas, Nevada was the site for the 29th Annual Lettermen Society Convention held March 25th through 28th, 2010. The South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa was our home away from home during our stay. Attendees from sixteen states, as well as member Shinichiro Fukushima who traveled from Osaka, Japan were able to experience the excitement that is Las Vegas.
An Italian buffet was enjoyed during “Dinner With The Lettermen” on the evening of Thursday, March 25th at our hotel where this year’s photo award winners were announced (see the list below). Each attendee had their photo taken with The Lettermen which was then presented to them in a card signed by each of The Lettermen before their departure back home. Tony introduced his Castlebrooke Winery 2007 Merlot during a tasting after dinner. (For more information on Tony’s wine, go to www.butalavineyards.com).
Les Brown, Jr. of Les Brown, Jr.’s Band of Renown and a film crew joined us for the weekend, filming and participating in some of the activities in conjunction with the release of the new CD his band recorded with The Lettermen---“The Lettermen New Directions 2010”.
Attendees had the opportunity to go “behind the scenes” by attending The Lettermen soundcheck on Friday afternoon and they witnessed what goes into the preparation for a phenomenal performance. Great seats were provided for that evening’s performance and then afterwards the whole group went bowling with The Lettermen and members of their organization (which proved to be another show in itself!)
Saturday found us traveling on a bus to Bally’s Las Vegas for “The Price Is Right Live Stage Show”. Unfortunately no one in our group got called on stage for a pricing game, but we had several winners of small prizes when their names were called out between games. That evening, another exciting Lettermen show rounded out the day. Some people had to leave for home on Sunday, but those who stayed spent the afternoon at the pool, in the casino or exploring on The Strip with one more Lettermen show that evening. Old friendships were once again renewed with some new ones being formed as well and everyone looking forward to #30 next year.
